As part of our continued effort to provide the most accurate electricity pricing data on the market, we now support holiday pricing. Most utilities that have time-of-use or time-of-day rates treat weekdays differently than weekends and treat holidays as weekends.
While common holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are nearly always considered weekends, utilities have different lists of holidays depending on region. For example Entergy New Orleans is the only utility to consider Mardi Gras a holiday whereas none of the investor-owned utilties in Kentucky (Louisville Gas & Electric, Kentucky Utilities, Kenergy, Duke Kentucky) treat any holidays as weekends. We’ve captured these custom lists of holidays and built it into our pricing calculator. This means that we’ll automatically account for that utility’s specific holidays when calculating the current and upcoming prices for a tariff.
