Free Money! Energy Audits and Retrofits

If you live within the city limits of San Francisco, and you own your home, you may be entitled to free money (up to $7000! per house) to conduct an energy audit, and resulting energy efficiency retrofits and upgrades. Home Performance contractors are trained to provide a full range of energy-related home improvements, including insulation, furnace and air conditioner upgrades, and energy-efficient lighting and appliances.

Most American homes waste 20 to 40 percent or more of the energy they consume. Much of this waste can be eliminated through simple, cost-effective home improvement measures that will save you money.

Other cities are beginning to jump onboard. A quick Google search turned up similar programs in: Vermont, Wisconsin, Oregon, Delaware, New Jersey, British Columbia. and Ontario.
